https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22774 Bug ID: 22774 Summary: 4.8.1.1.3 Image alts and explanations Classification: Unclassified Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Hardware: PC OS: Windows NT Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: HTML5 spec Assignee: dave.null@w3.org Reporter: tink@tink.co.uk QA Contact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-admin@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org Section 4.8.1.1.3 includes several code examples with corresponding images. In some cases the images form part of a working example of the code (such as the W3C links), but in others the purpose of the images isn't as clear (to screen reader users relying on the alt text). Suggest changing the alt text for the print preview image to "Print preview icon", and the alt text for the search image to "Search button". For the PIP Co example, suggest changing the following text: "In this example, a picture representing a company logo for the PIP Corporation has been split into two images, the first containing the word PIP and the second with the abbreviated word CO. The images are the sole content of a link to the PIPCO home page." To something like: "In this example, a company logo for the PIP Corporation has been split into the following two images, the first containing the word PIP and the second with the abbreviated word CO. The images are the sole content of a link to the PIPCO home page." -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug.
