The bug has been clearly defined, the use case has been documented and explained, and we now need to have spec language that addresses the need. Why would the editor need to know how that affects one person? There are millions of non-sighted users in the world today, and each one has different needs, desires, requirements and circumstances. If a page author is presenting a visual image of any sort on a page, then there is a conscious decision to do so, and in selecting that image: there is a transfer of information happening between the author and the end user. We must ensure that when that transfer happens, we are capable of ensuring that we do so to all users, not just sighted users. We need a mechanism to do this - never mind that it will be abused, misused or ignored by some - it will also be used properly by many others and will benefit those users who require such.
