I don't think the distinction between playthrough and all is very useful. If
you do in fact play through you will have loaded it all, after all...

preload=none I do support, and think it should suspend the resource fetch
algorithm before step 2. This isn't only about bandwidth, setting up the
decoding pipelines to get the duration and first frame is also resource
intensive (details depends on implementation of course).
