http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=8656 Summary: Allow user to select fallback content for the object element Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: All URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/text-level- semantics.html#the-object-element OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: a11y Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: HTML5 spec bugs AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org ReportedBy: gez.lemon@gmail.com QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: ian@hixie.ch, mike@w3.org, public-html@w3.org, public- html-a11y@w3.org The algorithm for object specifies that a user agent picks the "first one it supports" -- suggest that this model be revised to allow user agents to identify nested children that may not have been rendered and display them instead. The problem that this addresses is that it allows for situations where the format can be accessible, but often isn't (ex. Flash), allowing users to choose an alternative without having to configure their browsers to render a particular content type differently depending on the site that they happen to be visiting. -- Configure bugmail: http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug.
