Perhaps explicitly mentioning some elements names would help: "Sectioning content is content that defines the scope of headings and footers. The contents of the <section>, <article>, <nav> and <aside> elements constitute sectioning content." or maybe: "The contents of the <section>, <article>, <nav> and <aside> elements constitute sectioning content.
