https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=20666 Bug ID: 20666 Summary: Should define navigator.product for web compatibility Classification: Unclassified Product: WHATWG Version: unspecified Hardware: PC OS: Windows NT Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: HTML Assignee: ian@hixie.ch Reporter: eoconnor@apple.com QA Contact: contributor@whatwg.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-admin@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org, travil@microsoft.com Depends on: 20665 +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #20665 +++ As we continue to improve IE's engine such that it runs more of the non-IE based web, we've seen that it is now necessary to support the navigator.product attribute. It should simply return "Gecko". This behavior is already present in Chrome and Firefox, and IE will be adding it soon. Consider this for HTML5 as well to codify this behavior for interoperability and actual site compatibility. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
