Colleagues: This time with the correct pointer. Sorry, everyone; and thanks, John! This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to the HTML-A11Y Task Force to publish the revised "Techniques for providing useful text alternatives" as a W3C note. The candidate document is available at: http://www.w3.org/2015/03/alt-draft.html As discussed over several recent Task Force teleconferences, this CfC would effectively publish only a stub document inasmuch as the content formerly provided by this document has been subsumed by the HTML 5.0 specification itself. ACTION TO TAKE According to agreed Procedures, this CfC is now open for objection, comment, as well as statements of support via email. Silence will be interpreted as support, though messages of support are certainly welcome. If you object to this proposed action, or have comments concerning this proposal, please respond by replying on list to this message no later than 23:59 (Midnight) Boston Time on Thursday 16 April..
