Colleagues: This past august the PFWG approved a Formal Objection to the HTML-WG's Issue-204 decision: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2012JulSep/0130.html Subsequently, new language was proposed, and the Director encouraged our WGs to renew efforts to improve coordination between the two groups on the remaining accessibility issues: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2012JulSep/0212.html In our most recent review of these issues, PFWG noted: 1.) The language of Sec. 7.1 of the HTML 5 specification to which we objected has been removed. While the new language in Sec. 7.1 may not yet have reached its final form, the conflict with our ARIA specification has been removed and appears unlikely to return. We note the proposed heartbeat publication reflects this improvement: http://htmlwg.org/heartbeat/WD-html5-20121011/editing.html#the-hidden-attribute 2.) The HTML-WG has adopted, and the PFWG and the HTML-A11Y Task Force have approved, a reorganization of joint work on accessibility in HTML: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2012Oct/0100.html In consideration of these welcome developments, PFWG adopted the following resolution at its regular weekly teleconference on Wednesday 17 October: RESOLUTION: Inasmuch as HTML-WG has now substantively addressed the concerns expressed in our Formal Objection to their Issue-204 decision, we hereby withdraw our Formal Objection as logged at https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2012JulSep/0130.html This resolution is logged at: https://www.w3.org/2012/10/17-pf-minutes.html#item08 https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2012OctDec/0057.html -- Janina Sajka, Phone: +1.443.300.2200 sip:janina@asterisk.rednote.net Email: janina@rednote.net Linux Foundation Fellow Executive Chair, Accessibility Workgroup: http://a11y.org The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Chair, Protocols & Formats http://www.w3.org/wai/pf Indie UI http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/
