Silvia Pfeiffer, Thu, 29 Mar 2012 13:56:57 -0700: >> As usual, if there is objection to this consensus position, please >> respond by replying to this message no later than close of business, >> Boston Time, on Monday 2 April. > First a question: we are not asking @longdesc to be reinstated for > <iframe>, or are we? And: why not? Yes, only for <img>, in line with [1]. Why not for iframe too: The CP does not offer use cases, data or proposals for that. However, a brief check shows that support level for iframe@longdesc, is much worse: Neither iCab nor Opera (which both support img@longdesc) nor the Firefox Longdesk add-on, have longdesc support for iframe. My personal view is also that longdesc - and aria-describedAT too - is more important when the element is both quite text empty *and* possibly filled with important or complex data/info/art/situations, such as is the case for <img>. For iframe, this is usually not the case unless when iframe@src points directly to a media file, which is relatively seldom, I believe. -- Leif Halvard Silli
