This is a call for consensus within the HTML a11y task force to record support for the following task-force resolution: [[ RESOLUTION: The HTML Accessibility Task force resolves to support the change proposal "Modify img element section" at: http://www.w3.org/html/wg/wiki/ChangeProposals/ImgElement20091203 ]] The "Modify img element section" change proposal relates to HTML WG issue 80: http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/80 Issue-80 relates to the following section of the HTML5 spec: http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/text-level-semantics.html#the-img-element More specifically, it relates to a subsection which defines several steps that UAs should use to determine "caption information" for an image when the src attribute is set on an img element but the alt attribute is not. The "Modify img element section" change proposal proposes that the following step -- which is the first of the steps -- be removed: If the image has a title attribute whose value is not the empty string, then the value of that attribute is the caption information; abort these steps. If you have comments about this proposed task-force resolution, please send them by e-mail to this list prior to this Thursday's task-force telcon. --Mike -- Michael(tm) Smith http://people.w3.org/mike
