aloha, fellow-members of the HTML A11y TF Canvas Sub-Group! although RichS will not be available to chair today's scheduled Canvas conference call, there is the matter of the "Draft Revisions to Canvas 2D Context API", to be discussed and refined; the draft is archived at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-canvas-api/2010AprJun/att-0003/2dcontext10-Apr-11.html RichS identified a few areas of concentration, in particular, upon which he required targetted feedback before the proposal can be forwarded to the main Task Force and ultimately to the HTML WG; RichS' cover letter with his targetted enquiries can be found at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-canvas-api/2010AprJun/0003.html and is quoted below: QUOTE David Bolter: From the Firefox perspective we still need to see that the caret/selection location can be properly mapped to the accessibility API as is. Currently, the caret position is a logical one in IA2 and I believe the caret pixel position is calculated from the character font offset and the bounding rectangle of the text. We may need to move the system caret. I am trying to find the old Windows API for that. Frank: Please see if we can map the pixel position accurately, when provided, from the accessibility API. Windows used to have an MSAA notification for driving a magnifier based on screen position. I don't know if this is still used when using UIA Express. Maciej or James: Same question for Mac regarding the caret/selection position. UNQUOTE please respond to this email to signal whether or not you would be able to attend the Canvas sub-group meeting today; you can find the local time for the Canvas sub-group meeting using the following link: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=4&day=19&year=2010&hour=19&min=0&sec=0&p1=0 and you can find out more about Canvas Sub-group meeting times, schedules and other pertinent info at: http://www.w3.org/wai/pf/html/Canvas/Meetings if we don't convene today, 19 April 2010, it is imperative that those whom RichS directly addressed with questions on the draft, reply to RichS on list so that we can move forward as expeditiously as possible, thanks, gregory.
