As some of you know, I don't believe there is a need for direct access to security elements, TEEs, and such from the Web. Apparently some of the Web payment folks have realized that tying into the native "App" world from the Web opens new possibilities: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-payments-wg/2016Jul/0038.html Although the discussion is still at its infancy, it might be worth keeping an eye on it as progress on this part would de-facto enable HW-secured crypto on the Web (which already is the case with Apple Pay slated for introduction this fall).
