After internal discussion, the Microsoft contingent to this working group has decided that for the purposes of designing the API, our position is that prototyping an implementation looks like a useful next step for this work. We’re specifically interested in helping Google to make a D3D12 backend to NXT by contributing to the NXT project (which would provide a concrete prototype to try out ideas, and would help drive the design of things like the resource binding model and the binary shader format). Naturally, we can’t clone the repo and start the investigation while the internal business and legal review process is still pending, but we hope to complete that shortly.
