WCAG 2.2 does not sufficiently address vertical writing and other typographic conventions of non-Western languages. While I have long considered submitting corrections through an errata, I refrained out of concern that it might delay the submission of WCAG 2.2 to ISO/IEC. However, now that WCAG 2.2 has been submitted and is about to enter the voting stage, I strongly feel that corrections should be pursued via an errata process. A similar issue was raised and resolved during the development of WCAG 2.1, but unfortunately, little was changed. The same happened during the WCAG 2.2 process, but this time, I believe it is necessary to strongly advocate for meaningful revisions. If needed, I am prepared to submit an *appeal* to ensure this matter is addressed appropriately. To raise awareness of this issue in Japan, I presented it during a seminar last year and conveyed the concern to the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. I am also considering further advocacy efforts to bring attention to this important issue. I hope to discuss this issue in the upcoming teleconference.
