Nice to see this work getting picked up again. I'm also not sure how those
of us not already involved with OGC can best participate.

The .doc says "The first meeting of the committee will be held by telephone
conference call on May 30, 2013 at 10am eastern" -- is the work already
underway, or was launch delayed?

Over at schema.org - http://schema.org/Place
http://schema.org/docs/full.html - we have quite a lot of POI-oriented
types (Volcano, HairSalon etc :), although the geo-specific aspects need
more attention. I'd be happy to  talk about intereop with POI standards
anytime.
