https://www.w3.org/2012/03/05-geolocation-minutes.html High-level summary: 1. We will not proceed with the Geolocation API Level 2 spec All the browser vendor representatives in the wg have concerns about the implementability of v2. The reliance on (free) reverse geocoding services has proved problematic in practice, and there doesn't seem to be any strong demand from developers or users for the ability to get the location as an address. We have therefore recorded a working group resolution to leave v2 as a working draft and not move the document forward to CR. 2. Frequency of orientation events Feedback from Wikitude and their work on Augmented Reality applications is that implementations differ in terms of the frequency of orientation events, while still being compliant with the spec. We decided to add non-normative text with a recommendation to implementers that a "significant" change corresponds to less than a 1 degree change in orientation. 3. Referencing DOM2 vs DOM4 We recorded a resolution to keep our reference to DOM2 in the interest of getting DeviceOrientation to CR/PR before our charter expires, but this had led to protests. The discussion continues... Lars Erik Bolstad Chair, Geolocation WG
