RE: Google and Car Schema Data

…Happy to contribute from the administrative side (as I did with the WikiMarkup).

My areas of interest:

· Vehicle specifications

· Vehicle repair status

· Vehicle communication with repair diagnostics

Please advise; take care.

Tom

Martin/Mirek/All,

Would it be a good idea to identify asks and we can chime in on what aspect each of us could assist with based on our background and passions?

I had initialized the GAO Community Charter discussion page (https://www.w3.org/wiki/Talk:GAO_Community_Charter) with how I could potentially be best leveraged. Is there a more appropriate location for this? Is there a location where you intend to post specific asks that we can assist with?

Nice to connect this morning!

Regards,

Rob

I agree with Paul as we have smaller media companies that are now auto-generating mark-up on all of their product detail pages so that they can provide a better search experience from there own site. This practice will inevitably impact the exposure that search engines will need to provide in the future as well.

My take on Google v. schema.org is that Google will do what they want to do.

Google (usually through Matt Cutts) frequently makes pronouncements about what you should do to improve findability. please remember that Google would really rather that you gave up on trying to rank well and just bought AdSense ads.

As for schema.org, note that the technology is progressing to the point where organizations smaller than Google and Bing can consume the markup and do useful things with it, so I say go ahead and use it.

Does google display schema data and or look at it at all for car?

Trying to see if this will be valuable to add to our products.

Thanks,
