WebKit has, on DOMWindow, WebKitPoint webkitConvertPointFromPageToNode(in Node node, in WebKitPoint p); WebKitPoint webkitConvertPointFromNodeToPage(in Node node, in WebKitPoint p); and interface WebKitPoint { attribute float x; attribute float y; }; for this purpose, which I think is a reasonable approach.
