Hi folks, So apparently this is old news (2019) but I just heard of it and it could be new to others also. YesLogic, who make the PrinceHTML CSS to PDF converter, open-sourced their Allsorts Font Shaping Engine, which is written in Rust to avoid the security issues that can affect other font implementations. This phrase from the press release also caught my eye > Unfortunately there is no complete specification of how to perform > font shaping for complex scripts, so determining the desired behaviour > often comes down to observing what the other font shaping engines do > and implementing that. https://yeslogic.com/blog/allsorts-rust-font-shaping-engine/ -- Chris Lilley @svgeesus Technical Director @ W3C W3C Strategy Team, Core Web Design W3C Architecture & Technology Team, Core Web & Media
