Hello WG members! The FedID WG chairs are officially opening up a consensus call regarding bringing in the Digital Credentials API as a work item within the Federated Identity Working Group. As per W3C process [1], consensus is defined as "A substantial number of individuals in the set support the decision and there is no sustained objection from anybody in the set. Individuals in the set may abstain. Abstention is either an explicit expression of no opinion or silence by an individual in the set." Adopting this work item is an optional part of our charter [2]. The DC API was discussed on the 25 March 2025 FedID WG call; notes from that meeting are available in GitHub [3] If we hear no objections by 10 April 2025, we will add this as a work item for the group and immediately move to create a FPWD of the specification. If you have any questions, please contact Wendy, Simone, or me.
