We created the following announcement for JSON Schema community during this week's teleconference. ============================================= At the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) working group has published a first working draft of potential interest to this group. Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) for JSON W3C First Public Working Draft 28 January 2016 https://www.w3.org/TR/2016/WD-exi-for-json-20160128 Latest version: http://www.w3.org/TR/exi-for-json Abstract. The Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) format is a compact representation that simultaneously optimizes performance and the utilization of computational resources. The EXI format was designed to support XML representation. With a relatively small set of transformations it may also be used for JSON, a popular format for exchange of structured data on the Web. The EXI Working Group page is https://www.w3.org/XML/EXI For those interested, discussion of the EXI for JSON working draft occurs on the public-exi@w3.org mailing list. https://www.w3.org/XML/EXI/#Participation We currently have interesting discussions about whether usage of JSON Schema together with EXI for JSON might lead to similar improvements in compaction and performance when using XML Schema with EXI. Further dialog will always be welcome.
