Hi everybody, Wikidata, as you may know, provides roughly 1,500 properties of type "external identifier". The values of these properties, together with an URL stub, allows to link name authority files, thesauri, classifications etc. to Wikidata items. The limitation is, that the properties implicitly mean "this is an exact match". That's fine for personal name authorities, but not sufficient for the mapping of knowledge organization systems in general. Therefore, I've proposed a Wikidata property to additionally qualify external identifiers, in order to indicate that the individual link does not represent an exact match, but one of close/broad/narrow/related match, as defined in SKOS. If you are working with Wikidata - and perhaps plan to map your own KOS, as we do with STW Thesaurus for Economics -, please feel free to comment on https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/mapping_relation_type Cheers, Joachim -- Joachim Neubert ZBW - German National Library of Economics Leibniz Information Centre for Economics Neuer Jungfernstieg 21 20354 Hamburg Phone +49-42834-462
