Future SKOS development

Hi all,

A quick note on the future of SKOS ...

As I see it, the role of SWAD-E Thesaurus Activity has been and continues to
be to lay the foundation for a community effort to develop some standards
for Thesauri and similar KOS within a semantic web context.

I think what we have so far in the SKOS-Core [1] and SKOS-Mapping [2] RDF
schemas, and the SKOS API [3] is an excellent start. I would very much like
to continue developing these standards, and I think there are (and have
received suggestions for) a number of significant improvements that could be
made.

However, we do have a user community now. Therefore I am keen to set up a
framework within which these standards can continue to evolve, and
improvements and updates can be easily tracked by users. Also I am I keen
to ensure we have the capacity to support the involvement of a growing
community in SKOS development.

So I point you to three wiki pages:

http://esw.w3.org/topic/SkosDev_2fChangeProcess
http://esw.w3.org/topic/SkosDev_2fSchemaManagement
http://esw.w3.org/topic/SkosDev_2fSkosUsers

I look forward to feedback on these as a basis for future SKOS development.

Yours,

Alistair.
