Hi EPUBCheck Community, It has come to my attention that there is some concern about another update to EPUBCheck during a very busy time in the world. Earlier this week, we released version 4.2.3 and then version 4.2.4. How will this affect you? The primary change in the 4.2.3 release is an update the HTML schemas used by EPUBCheck to ensure that validation stays in sync with the web. A number of minor technical issues and improvements were also addressed in this release, as described in the release notes [1]. These will generally help better catch certain invalid content situations. As for 4.2.4, here is a quote from the release notes covering its only change: "Version 4.2.4 is a patch release to the recently-released version 4.2.3. It brings the HTML schemas in sync with the latest changes to the ARIA in HTML specification. This fixes an issue that caused a couple DPUB ARIA roles (doc-glossary and doc-dedication) to be incorrectly rejected on some HTML elements." That means that the EPUBCheck development team has updated the tool so that some frequent errors related to ARIA roles will no longer be a problem. A future update to EPUBCheck will also incorporate a full set of tests against the DPUB-ARIA roles to prevent this issue from reoccurring. Please take a look at the release notes to learn more! Be in touch with the EPUBCheck development team at https://github.com/w3c/epubcheck/issues with any feedback or questions. Hi everyone, EPUBCheck v4.2.4 is now available at the following page: https://github.com/w3c/epubcheck/releases/tag/v4.2.4 This is a patch release of EPUBCheck, fixing issues with version v4.2.3 (published yesterday). We found out that the HTML checker was not totally in sync with the ARIA in HTML specification, and consequently a couple DPUB ARIA roles were incorrectly rejected by EPUBCheck. Everything is now in sync. EPUBCheck v4.2.4 supersedes v4.2.3 as the latest production-ready release of EPUBCheck. As usual, feedback or bug reports are always welcome! via replies to this email or directly to our issue tracker on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/epubcheck/issues Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks to everyone who noticed the issue… and to Matt Garrish who quickly submitted pull requests to both EPUBCheck and the HTML checker!
