The EPUB 3 Community Group had its first teleconference on May 4, with 25 participants. We all talked about our backgrounds and goals for the group, and how we plan to work together. Given our diverse goals, it makes sense to form several task forces. We currently envision six task forces: 1. EPUB 3 Maintenance 2. Accessibility 3. EPUB for Education 4. Rendering 5. Testing and Validation 6. ISO Certification Each of these would determine their own methods of working, but the entire group would share an email list and have monthly teleconferences. Some interesting issues were raised during the meeting, including the need for more resources for EPUBCheck, and questions about how we should maintain older versions of EPUB. Full minutes for the meeting are at https://www.w3.org/2017/05/04-epub3cg-minutes.html * * * We have created a Wiki for the CG at https://github.com/w3c/pub-cg/wiki Here you can sign up for a task force. Note we will need to add you as a contributor in order to edit the wiki. For this you will need a GitHub account (see Ivan's introduction to GitHub at https://github.com/iherman/misc-notes/blob/master/docs/BasicGitHubContributionIntro.md). Then just comment on our "practice" issue https://github.com/w3c/pub-cg/issues/1 and I'll add you. * * * We will decide on the time and date for the next teleconference via a Doodle poll, at https://doodle.com/poll/y9kwvidqg99whskw. I'll also send a separate email about this. Thanks very much, Dave Cramer, co-chair
