Re: Upcoming Taskforces and Community Meetings

It should also be Monday/Tuesday not Sunday/Monday, so for anyone interested in a Tuesday slot for FXL, please add it here: https://doodle.com/poll/czgz4eppbyy9hkp3?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link

Subject: Upcoming Taskforces and Community Meetings
Hi everyone,

As mentioned in the calls in the last two weeks, we have a number of topics where people have expressed interest in more focused groups for discussion outside of the main calls. These are fairly niche topics, so getting smaller groups together who have an interest in these will hopefully foster more discussion and takeaways we can bring back to the main groups. Since these will be scheduled outside of the main calls, this email is to share the doodle links for the meetings in the hopes that we can find times that work for those interested and schedule accordingly.

First, the taskforce on Fixed Layout Accessibility (wiki<https://github.com/w3c/epub-specs/wiki/Fixed-Layout-Accessibility>), this group will meet to discuss developing guidelines and advice for content creators looking for better methods to develop fixed layout content. Second, the taskforce to discuss Virtual Locators<https://github.com/w3c/epub-specs/issues/1542>, this group will meet to discuss the possibility of developing a standardized way to apply locators to EPUB content for the purposes of citation and bibliographic referencing, among many other use cases for locators.

Third, we’d like to hold a meeting with the community on Scripting<https://github.com/w3c/epub-specs/wiki/Proposed:-Scripting-Summit>. We’ve had several discussions within the working group on the topic, but without much progress. One of the blockers has been a lack of understanding about reading systems and their concerns. The other issue on the table is the impact on security/privacy. We’ll be opening this meeting up to the community at large, so non-members can participate, so please forward to anyone you think might be interested!

Please let us know if you have any questions or would be interested in heading any of the TF sessions.

Cheers,
Wendy, Dave, and Shinya
