Dear all, This is just a reminder of tomorrow’s accessibility task force meeting. The proposed agenda and conference details are in the following email. With regards Avneesh From: Avneesh Singh Sent: Monday, November 9, 2020 18:02 To: public-epub-wg@w3.org Subject: [a11y] Agenda of Accessibility TF - EPUB 3 WG: Thu, Nov 12, at 15 UTC Dear all, Thanks for responding to the Doodle poll for Accessibility Task Force call of EPUB 3 WG. Selecting optimum time for everyone as well as chairs team was quite difficult, so we settled on a reasonable compromise. We will have our first meeting on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 15 UTC. Local time: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Accessibility+task+force+online+meeting+-+EPUB+3+WG&iso=20201112T15&p1=%3A&ah=1 The details of the conference line and IRC are below the agenda. Agenda: The objective of the first call is to collect most important work items for improving EPUB Accessibility specifications. We have short timeline of 10 months, so we need to be selective. The initial list of work items is as follows: 0. Work arrangement (con calls, issue tracker etc.) 1. High level goal to align with requirements of EU accessibility directive. EPUB Accessibility is already aligned to it to great extent. But I am writing this goal at the top to keep it in our minds. 2. Requirement for maintaining reading order in Navigation Document. This requirement is relaxed in EPUB 3.3, so we should consider this requirement for EPUB Accessibility. 3. Alignment with WCAG 2.1 and possibly to WCAG 2.2. 4. Fix URLs in EPUB Accessibility and techniques going to IDPF URL. 5. Remove the relaxation that EPUB Accessibility provides to text equivalent. In version 1.0 alttext is considered as sufficient for meeting minimum requirements, even if the image is complex. 6. DPUB aria roles vs epub:type. Should we maintain status quo or leave epub:type behind. 7. Metadata improvements like: - Multiple CertifierCredentials etc. - Should we drop accessibility API and accessibility controls from EPUB Accessibility. 8. Update links to best practices in techniques document. 9. Consider reinforcing some Media Overlays requirements (it is discussion for future calls).
