Dear All,
Following our discussion last week, in summary:
- the old and updated versions of the WAI-AGE *presentation will be
archived* (somehow) for Phase 2
- The *conclusion concerning the interesting statistic*s (still of
relevance) in the WAI-AGE presentation was to have an html page with the
statistical information under "Overlapping needs" and, later, once the
WAI-AGE content is updated in Phase 2 of the design, there would be a link
to something like "Here is a presentation of this page" which Eric-the-guru
would style sheet on-the-fly into a fabulous presentation.
- Therefore, the interesting statistics from the WAI-AGE
presentation (as taken from the updated version of Shadi and which I
distributed in a Word file last week) *have been imported into the
following wiki* page, under Overlapping needs:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Web_and_Older_Users
- An *expand/collapse* of that information just before the sentence "The
following statistics and research performed by the WAI-AGE
Project in 2010" would
probably benefit the page overall by reducing the length. Eric: is it
possible to do this in the wiki and, if so, can you help me?
- the WAI-AGE information will be contained in the footer
- the left sub-menu navigation will contain resources specificially
within this resource so that the navigation remains local.
*NEXT STEPS:*
To conclude, the Older Resources pages for the new design are as follows:
- Main overview page: https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Web_and_Older_Users#
Understanding_Older_Web_Users
- Literature overview page: https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/
wiki/New_Overview_page#Introduction
<https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/New_Overview_page#Introduction>
*Modified pages in the wiki:*
https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Web_and_Older_Users#Technical_Resources_to_Improve_Accessibility_and_Usability_for_Older_Users
(it will be shorter after the expand/collapse is added concerning the
information on changing abilities due to age under "Overlapping needs..."
at the sentence beginning "The following statistics..." and ending at
"...that are sometimes present)"
Pages on the web site which will *NOT change but will be imported into the
new design:*
- Web Accessibility for Older Users: A Literature Review:
https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-age-literature/ and
https://www.w3.org/TR/2008/WD-wai-age-literature-20080514/
- Article from User Experience Magazine:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/posts/2009/older-users-online
- How WCAG 2.0 Applies: https://www.w3.org/WAI/older-users/developing
*Pages which will be* *archived in the new design:*
- Presentation overview page: https://www.w3.org/WAI/
presentations/ageing/
- HTML of presentation:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/ageing/waiage.html
- PPT of presentation:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/ageing/waiage.ppt
*Pages/Resources which will be updated in Phase 2:*
- HTML of presentation:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/ageing/waiage.html
- PPT of presentation:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/ageing/waiage.ppt
If I have overlooked anything or if there is anything unclear, please let
me know.
And, if there are no further modifications or suggestions, then, we should
go ahead and submit the revised content for approval to EO. I'd be most
grateful if Brent and Sharron could help me with this. I am currently in
India and am not sure to be able to participate in this week's
teleconference.
Best,
Vicki
