Dear all, This year, TPAC is held in Fukuoka takes place in Asia, where I reside I never attended TPAC before but somehow since it's just a hop away from me I felt it may be an opportunity to visit Japan again and see who is still around and doing what @W3C, at least in principle we can plan for it. Following a heads up a few months ago on these lists I have managed to schedule a meeting for our CG AIKR https://www.w3.org/community/aikr/ @TPAC Fukuoka, THURSDAY 19 SEPT 2019 - FUKUOKA 13:30-15:30 Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Representation (AI KR) At the time when the group was started, KR had been somewhat in the backburner of the AI domain for some time, at least based on my experience as researcher and lecturer With a few exceptions, I have to work hard to explain what KR is to the AI academic communities in Asia, even in major institutions, which is rather chilling for me. I have been worried that few people understand AI, and that KR is not taught at all, attention being mostly in teaching ML and NN . A concern of mine/ Since we started the CG (and our cfp) Cfp https://www.mdpi.com/journal/systems/special_issues/Artificial_Intelligence_Knowledge_Representation there has been renewed interest on KR. At a minimum, our initiatives so far have stimulated renewed interest in this important branch of AI The focus of the meeting is going to be: to say hi, discuss some of the tasks in hand in the cg and capture the relevance of AI KR to other W3C groups and see how AI KR can contribute to solving some of the problems and issues in other WGs ( some of the visible challenges and discussions taking place in other groups can be framed as AI KR challenges). Best regards PDM
