Workshop "Application of Semantic Web Technologies" at ISWC14

Hi Group,

We (at AIT) are currently pondering about organizing a workshop at the ISCW14 in October, where we want to keep the discussion going about the use, possibilities and impacts of Semantic Web in Crisis and Disaster Management. Our specific background to suggest this workshop are quite a few projects dealing with information exchange in the field of crisis management, as well as the field of environmental monitoring and time series processing through semantic web.

Since there are currently a few people (in- and outside this group) dealing with this topic (think HXL, HDX), I figured it makes sense to collaborate! I imagine that we are not the only ones thinking about suggesting a WS, so if there is any more movement in this direction it would be great to organize something together instead of putting in 3+ proposals. So if there is interest here, let me know! We already have a half-baked workshop proposal going, so there is no need for a cold start! :)

Currently, we think of the following topics to be part of the workshop:

Semantic Sensor Web for Crisis and Disaster Management
Ontology Development for the Prevention of Crises
 Reasoning in CDM Domain Ontologies
Interoperability of CDM Systems based on Semantic Web Technologies
 Semantic Time Series Processing
Application of Semantic Web Technologies in Environmental Disaster Prevention
Using Reasoning to Predict Emergencies and Environmental Risks
Decision Support based on Ontologies and Reasoning

Looking forward to hearing back from you guys!
Sigi.
