It would be great to have some applicants interested in furthering global
knowledge exchange on digital democracy, open government, and civic tech.
E-Democracy.org can be thought of as the original civic tech project. We
were founded in 1994 by citizen volunteers who built the world's first
election information website and online candidate debate.
We uniquely went local with practical open source based online citizen
engagement in three countries AND also global with knowledge exchange.
First with our pre-blogging/Facebook/Twitter Democracies Online Newswire
e-list in 1998 and now our very active 5,000+ member Open Government and
Civic Technology Facebook Group, we strive to connect everyone interested
in strengthening democracy and community with digital tools and strategies.
As we meet via teleconference, we've had a very global board for many
years, so consider applying:

P.S. E-Democracy's local online engagement work is a complement to our
global knowledge exchange work. It firmly cements us in reality and
practice, not just expert or policy realms. So if you are not aware of that
work, see http://E-Democracy.org/if and http://E-Democracy.org/inclusion
We are also the fiscal agent/legal host for Open Twin Cities
http://OpenTwinCities.org and the global CityCamp unconference series.
We've chosen not to chose between local practice and global knowledge
exchange despite the fact that many find it odd that we do both. There is
magic in that mix.
