Hi all, We presented about various open-source open data platform solutions to this group a couple of months ago, and now fyi we've just submitted to the Knight News Challenge a proposal to deliver a *free* full open-source hosted data platform for local governments based on one of the plaltforms we discussed: https://www.newschallenge.org/open/open-government/submission/hosted-open-data-portals-for-local-governments/ Based on the Drupal-based "DKAN" variant of CKAN software, and combined with new low-cost multi-tenant Drupal hosting capabilities, we think it is the best way to rapidly cause an explosion of local government data to become published and discoverable online in a sustainable standards-compliant manner. We will be continuing to refine the proposal and would always love your offline feedback, and, if you like the proposal, please do also consider posting your comments and "applause" on the submission online to help generate awareness and interest. Just click "applaud this" in the right-hand sidebar. You'll briefly register a free OpenIdeo account or login securely through Facebook Connect. And/or please do pass the word-- here is a proposed sample tweet: Vote in the #newschallenge for free hosted #opensource #opendata portals for local government: http://kng.ht/XVCZ1w #drupal @nuams #DKAN Thank you for your support!
