(Apologies for cross-postings. Please share with your networks, who may be attending ePart 2012) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- 'Puzzled by Policy' workshop at the fourth international conference on eParticipation (ePart 2012) 'Reconnecting Citizens with Policy' Track C: 16:00 - 18:00 Wed 5th September ePart 2012 Conference Kristiansand, Norway http://www.epart-conference.org/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Workshop Target Audience: Anyone interested in finding out about an innovative way to relate policy to people's lives and viewpoints, and to involve them in the policy-making process. Workshop Description: The workshop will begin with a demonstration of the Puzzled by Policy (PbP) Platform (http://join.puzzledbypolicy.eu), describing its functionality, but also the theory behind its design. Participants will then be invited to use the platform for themselves. The second half of the workshop will involve a round-table discussion on the applicability of the platform for user participation in the policy-making process. Feedback from the existing PbP pilot sites will be shared. Participants are also invited to suggest alternative use-cases where the PbP approach can be applied. Puzzled by Policy Use-Case: Immigration: All across Europe, immigration is a hot topic of discussion; for citizens, immigrants, NGOs, public authorities, politicians, etc. But how do these opinions relate to existing national and European policy? And how can we convey our ideas to those in power? Now, for the first time there is a single platform that allows users across Europe to learn more about immigration, discuss and compare their views on particular issues, find out how these views relate to actual immigration policy, and make their voices heard to decision-makers. Introducing Puzzled by Policy; Europe's one-stop shop for information and discussion on immigration policy. Project Description: PbP is funded by the EC under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) - ICT Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP). The project is led by the DERI, NUI Galway and has a consortium consisting of 12 partners. The PbP platform is being trialed in pilots in Hungary, Italy, Greece and Spain. The project started on 1st October 2010 and will run for 3 years.
