Re: Invitation for Speakers: Upcoming discussions on Open Data

Sounds like Rufus and the team at OKF will be a welcome addition to the agenda!

I like what EuroStat has done with their 2012 EuroStat Regional Yearbook (also in a wiki):

http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/portal/page/portal/publications/regional_yearbook

and I am using it as an example in my story The EuroStat Regional Yearbook for Semantic Interoperability:

http://semanticommunity.info/Build_SEMIC.EU_in_the_Cloud/2012_Eurostat_Regional_Yearbook

to bring semantic interoperability to linked open data in Europe, the United States, and other countries (in progress) by organizing and integrating high quality data sets in a way they can be analyzed statistically and visualized graphically using cloud computing information platforms and analytical business intelligence tools.

I would like to see how this would be done by OKF.

Andrew--

I'll prompt Rufus or another OKF person, great idea! We'd love to have you talk about open source platforms too.

I'd love to see Rufus Pollock or other rep from the Open Knowledge Foundation. And I'd also be happy to chime in on open-source platforms options for open data publishing if that would be topical.

Hi all--

As discussed, we plan to focus the next few meetings on open government data. Several people have already volunteered, but I wanted to be sure you each have the opportunity to suggest a speaker, a topic, or suggest yourself as a speaker on this topic.

Below are the next few dates and times zones, so if you reply to Tomasz and I with the topic and date you are interested or the name or topic of the speaker, that would be great.

  *   November 16 (Los Angeles)
  *   November 26 (China)
  *   December 14 (Los Angeles)
  * December 24 (China—may be cancelled or rescheduled)
  *   January 11 (Los Angeles)
  *   January 21 (China)
Thanks!
