Subject: Hi eGov IG! - Introducing Myself

Hello eGov IG!

My name is Adam Harvey. José added me to the group recently and
suggested I introduce myself.

I am a web designer for a local county government in the State of
Ohio. I've been employed at Cuyahoga County for about 2.5 years now,
and I've had an interesting time learning just how a public sector
'business' is run. In my position I often find myself championing the
adoption of effective and open government technologies. Almost as
often, I find myself at a loss to explain why the Gov 2.0 technologies
and even in some cases having a website in the first place, matters.

So I started a blog about eGovernment, to try to work out these
matters for myself. Unfortunately, I still don't have the experience/
knowledge to fully articulate what I'm feeling. I can't figure out the
answers on my own. So I'm starting a self-education process, much the
same way I started learning about web design. Joining your mailing
list and keeping on top of the work you do, and joining in these and
other eGov conversations are hopefully going to be fruitful ways to
become enlightened.

It's not all about me though. I want to help out in improving
eGovernment whenever I can. I spent three years as an editor before
moving into the public sector, so I can help edit or revise any
documents the group puts together. I'm a fairly good analyst and a
fairly good synthesist, and I'm not afraid to ask stupid questions.
Most importantly, I don't plan on barging into your IG and ruining the
furniture. I'll probably be in 'lurk' mode at first, just listening
and getting a feel for the good work you folks are doing. I am willing
to help out in any way that you need me.

Thanks for listening, and feel free to tell me about yourselves or ask
me any questions you may have. I look forward to working with y'all.
