We talked about the "Show Us A Better Way" competition in the UK today (http://www.showusabetterway.com/) So, here's a very similar initiative in the US: http://www.appsfordemocracy.org/ (my thanks to Tom Steinberg for spotting this). Shows the appetite that there is in government for using the web for citizen to government interaction, encouraging forms of co-production for public services. Of course, on a different scale, Google has made $10m available for "ideas that change the world" for its 10^100 project.
