+1 @nicholascar the whole exercise in trying to define "data profiles" without actually understanding what any form of profiles mean in practice has sucked so much time and energy out of the system - but it does at least give us a term to distinguish what is being negotiated about. The fact that we need a broader definition that includes functional behaviour to also explain conformance shows that we attacked the problem from the wrong end - in my experience data modelling is best done by understanding what things need unique identifiers and why, and then what distinguished them.
