Data on the Web Best Practices Working Group now closed

Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,
Data on the Web Best Practices Working Group members,

The Data on the Web Best Practices Working Group [1] is now closed.

The mission of the group was to develop the open data ecosystem, provide guidance to publishers that will improve consistency in the way data is managed, and foster trust in the data among developers, whatever technology they choose to use, increasing the potential for genuine innovation.

It published its Data on the Web Best Practices as a Recommendation:
  https://www.w3.org/TR/2017/REC-dwbp-20170131/

Further maintenance around the Data on the Web Best Practices documents, perhaps including an annual report on their uptake, is expected to happen within the Data on the Web Best Practices Community Group [2].

W3C thanks the group’s Chairs, Hadley Beeman and Deirdre Lee (Invited Experts), Yasodara Córdova (NIC.br/W3C Brasil) and all the participants in the group for their efforts.

This announcement follows section 5.2.8 of the Process Document:

Thank you,

For Tim Berners-Lee, Director;
Coralie Mercier, Head of W3C Marketing & Communications
