Hi, I had 5 minutes, so I came up with this starter for the BP about legal and ethical issues. Consider legal and ethical issues. Before publishing data, consider potential legal and ethical issues that bear on it. Why Publishing openly data that should not be available publicly can harm individuals or organizations, compromise security, and violate laws. Intended Outcome Data made available to the public will be appropriate for general consumption without legal or ethical conflict. Data that is not publishable will be available only with controlled access. Possible Approach to Implementation Develop a security and privacy plan, and review each dataset for legal and ethical issues before making it public. How to test Check that required approvals are given before posting data in a publicly accessible area. If not all data can be made public, test that authorization and authentication systems prevent access to protected data. -- Annette Greiner NERSC Data and Analytics Services Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory 510-495-2935
