Dear DPUB accessibility folks, and BISG accessibility folks, Sorry for cross posting. I have a favor to ask. I have been requested to provide guidance to education boards in their purchase of digital publications and the systems around their delivery throughout the school system. Of course, accessibility is a fundamental requirement in the whole chain, e.g. website, discovery and relevant metadata, reading systems on all platforms, high quality educational materials, and shared annotations. Publishers are working hard to develop rich content in EPUB and using the EDUPUB profile. It is essential that the rich content be preserved and passed along in the distribution system. In addition, educators want to produce materials for this distribution system. The need to provide enhancements for persons with disabilities is yet another factor. I have not seen a document that provides this type of guidance. If you are aware of such a document, please send information to Kerscher @montana.com Best George George Kerscher Ph.D. -In our Information Age, access to information is a fundamental human right.
