LinkedUp Vici Competition: Linked and Open Data for Education **Submission deadline 5th September 2014** Presentations and awards at ISWC 2014 (19th-23th October 2014, Riva del Garda, Italy) http://linkedup-challenge.org/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LinkedUp aims to push forward the exploitation of the vast amounts of public, open data available on the Web, in particular by educational institutions and organizations. For Vici invite you to design and build advanced prototypes and tools that exploit linked and/or open data for addressing real educational needs. Your tool should be mature and stable; it should be used or have been used by a fair amount of users on a realistic scale. The Vici Competition has an Open Track and two Focused Tracks: * *Supporting Developing Countries*, sponsored by the Commonwealth of Learning and DANS, calls for applications that address educational challenges in developing countries, such as the support of mobile, low-bandwidth devices. * *Water Resources & Ecology*, sponsored by Elsevier, asks for linking published content to the Linked Data Web to enhance the learning experience. The Vici Competition runs from 26th May 2014 till 5th September 2014. Prizes (up EUR3,000 for first prize) will be awarded at the 13th International Semantic Web Conference in Riva del Garda, Trento, Italy in October 2014. Find out more details on the LinkedUp Challenge website http://linkedup-challenge.org/. There you will also find the submissions and winners of the previous successful competitions. And then: get designing! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- More information: - Find out about the LinkedUp challenge: http://linkedup-challenge.org/ - Explore the LinkedUp Data Cataloque: http://data.linkededucation.org/linkedup/catalog/ - Learn more about the Focused Tracks: http://linkedup-challenge.org/vici-focused-tracks/ - Subscribe to our mailinglist: https://www.l3s.de/mailman/listinfo/linkedup-public - Follow @linkedupproject <https://twitter.com/linkedupproject> and #linkedupproject : http://twitter.com/linkedupproject - Contact us directly: http://linkedup-project.eu/contact/ - Get more information about the LinkedUp Project: http://linkedup-project.eu/ Important dates: - May 2014: Launch of the Vici Competition - 5th September 2014: Submission deadline - 26th September 2014: Notifications and Nominations - 19th-23th October 2014: Presentations and Award Ceremony at ISWC 2014 LinkedUp Challenge Team: Mathieu d'Aquin, KMI, Open University (UK) Stefan Dietze, L3S Research Center (Germany) Hendrik Drachsler, Open Universiteit Nederland (Netherlands) Marieke Guy, Open Knowledge (UK) Eelco Herder, L3S Research Center (Germany) -- Marieke Guy LinkedUp <http://linkedup-project.eu/> Project Community Coordinator | skype: mariekeguy | tel: 44 (0) 1285 885681 | @mariekeguy <http://twitter.com/mariekeguy> Open Knowledge <http://okfn.org/> /Empowering through Open Knowledge/ http://okfn.org/ | @okfn <http://twitter.com/okfn>| OKF on Facebook <%3Fhttps://www.facebook.com/OKFNetwork%3F> | Blog <%3Fhttp://blog.okfn.org%3F> | Newsletter <%3Fhttp://okfn.org/about/newsletter/%3F> http://remoteworker.wordpress.com
