Re: CfC to publish Compute Pressure API Candidate Recommendation Snapshot - review by 29 Nov 2024

Hi DAS WG participants,

This CfC passes.

We received one comment [1] during the review period regarding future extensibility. This issue was satisfactorily addressed and we are ready to proceed with the CRS publication at the earlier opportunity.

Thanks,

Hi DAS WG participants,

This is a Call for Consensus to publish the Compute Pressure API as a Candidate Recommendation Snapshot (CRS) per TPAC 2024 discussion [1].

Please review the latest Working Draft [2] that will be used as the basis for this publication and reply to public-device-apis@w3.org by 29 Nov 2024 if you have any concerns with this publication plan. Silence is considered consent.

When assessing readiness for this transition we have considered the following:

The specification meets all Working Group requirements for this deliverable [3].

An implementation report is available at [4]. As of writing this, 80% of the tests are passing in the Chromium implementation and the test pass rate is expected to improve with the implementation of the remaining WebDriver-dependent features.

The specification has received wide review [5]. This feedback resulted in significantly improved Security and Privacy considerations and an introduction of Accessibility considerations.

No features are identified as at risk.

Thank you to the editors, implementers, and the entire group for reaching this important milestone.

Thanks,

-Anssi (DAS WG co-chair)
