Welcome, scribe selection, agenda review, announcements

Reminder re TPAC hotels and registration (no DAP F2F) , https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2015Sep/0018.html

Publishing Moratoria https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2015Sep/0025.html

Welcome Lukasz Olejnik - https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2015Sep/0028.html

fjh: Adam from Plantronics also joined https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2015Sep/0032.htmlnt
... interested in their interest etc

TPAC

fjh: ad hoc meeting at TPAC scheduled 27 Tuesday 15:00-18:00
... Tobie will send note to DAP list, has already notified WoT group and Automotive group

<anssik> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wot-ig/2015Sep/0075.html

<anssik> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-automotive/2015Sep/0021.html

tobie: how about geoloc

fjh: yes, let them know as well
... will also have breakout session on Plenary Day

anssi: we can use plenary for introduction

fjh: yes get more interest and participation

tobie: too bad long meeting is before introduction
... goal for ad hoc meeting is use cases, requirements, and spec comments

<anssik> https://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC/2015/ad-hoc-meetings#Generic_Sensor_API

tobie: working session , perhaps try to rewrite APIs for WoT and Automotive using generic sensor API

<anssik> https://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC/2015/SessionIdeas#Generic_Sensor_API

tobie: for breakout can focus on high level and spec extension

fjh: please update the wikis to be clear on the topics

anssik: when should I start updating ambient light
... before TPAC?

fjh: depends on status of generic sensor spec, is it stable enough?

tobie: I'm looking at this as I work on the generic sensor API
... pretty much ready to do now
... before TPAC ok
... details on precisely writing spec not there yet, e.g. security issues

<anssik> https://slightlyoff.github.io/ServiceWorker/spec/service_worker/#extensibility

<anssik> https://w3c.github.io/webappsec/specs/powerfulfeatures/#example-1611693b

gmandyam: tue 10-12 will have joint meeting of auto and geolocation to discuss use cases related to geolocation
... plan to mention generic sensor during that session as model to use
... encourage anyone interested in generic sensor apis to attend that session as well

anssik: can you announce joint meeting

gmandyam: yes

tobie: I would like to attend

fjh: other groups to talk with?

tobie: webRTC, enumeration and constraints might be appropriate

Generic Sensor API/

gmandyam: general problem of capability discovery is important, worth discussion

<anssik> http://w3c.github.io/mediacapture-main/#enumerating-devices

fjh: could consider this as levels in the spec, layers, to enable simple use cases without complexity

tobie: approach I am taking
... could do this in separate spec for discovery

fjh: plan is to have draft for Tuesday, then can do CfC once you let me know Tobie
... do you need additional review before Tuesday

tobie: no, do not need input now
... perhaps on terminology

fjh: section looked fine for me, I've used 'virtual sensor' but you mention all possible so ok

tobie: would like your input, Giri do you have any?

<anssik> https://w3c.github.io/sensors/#terminology

anssik: liked the terminology

fjh: +1

anssik: would you prefer to have issues into FPWD

tobie: would like to close about 2/3 before we ship, so there should be fewer question blocks

fjh: find it useful to have items inline

tobie: can collapse the issues with way to bring inline

gmandyam: terminology section is good, maybe also talk about 1-shot and polling and async approaches

fjh: can also put issues in appendix with links

tobie: have issue for this, higher level view of how sensor data is fetched should be added

fjh: can rely on editor to handle this properly

tobie: will find compromise have having content , hopefully to be able to expand line items by clicking or if few just put inline

fjh: don't need to track issues in doc, but want to share issues with readers that could help or provide feedback

gmandyam: need to see if comments on geolocation that can be applied to generic sensor API, will share if I find any
... need to also look at device orientation

fjh: can you do this

gmandyam: yes, will post to DAP mailing list

tobie: looking for feedback from groups and also looking for feedback from developers, hence want to improve the spec and share it Tuesday

fjh: need to arrange Transition call for FPWD

tobie: Dom suggested we can do this in parallel

Minutes approval

RESOLUTION: Minutes from 17 Sept 2015 are approved, https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-apis/2015Sep/att-0017/minutes-2015-09-17.html

Testing and Updates on Other Specs

anssik: reviewed HTML media capture tests, closed actions
... contacted Microsoft, not tracking spec, not sure whether they are implementing
... not sure status of Mozilla

tobie: thought there was project to add into HTML spec, cannot tell now that tracking tool has changed so many times

anssiK: living spec is accepting pull requests
... how to contribute to WhatWG

<anssik> Requested feedback from Mozilla and Microsoft:

<anssik> Mozilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741393#c10

<anssik> Microsoft: https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/Status/issues/49#issuecomment-140709630

anssi: concern is what if multiple apps to take photo
... could still implement

fjh: wonder if Jonas will be at TPAC, perhaps discuss there
... what about battery

anssi: mozilla implemented previous spec, plan was to be working on alignment with latest CR, no progress yet
... waiting for mozilla

Other Business
