Thanks Dzung, that captures my general understanding. Having written signaling software dealing with low-level signal sensor integration, I can relate to the value of both handing that function off to a OS-level API while give the app the ability to set the criteria that makes sense for it. Without these fine control, an application would get data at whatever the UA decided to retrieve sensor data from the platform, in turn the application needs to sub sampling the data to a rate more acceptable to its needs. Most native sensor API provides the capabilities to set rate and threshold today such as Windows and Android. There is no reason why this can't be exposed to the UA. Some requirement that needs to take in account is that a game would need sensor data at a faster rate than a home energy monitor application. > > Thanks > Dzung Tran > > -----Original Message----- > From: SULLIVAN, BRYAN L [mailto:bs3131@att.com] > Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2012 4:58 PM > To: Frederick.Hirsch@nokia.com; Tran, Dzung D > Cc: public-device-apis@w3.org > Subject: RE: [sensor] Feedback to Geolocation WG on Device Orientation? > > Dzung is probably more familiar with what we are losing by taking the functions out of the Sensor draft, but I will check to see if I have more specific comments than I have had (I know the concerns in general).
