Introduction

Hi,

My name is Claes Nilsson and I will be the Sony Ericsson participant in this WG. We just joined the WG and I see that there has already been quite a lot of activity at the mailing list. So I guess that I have to spend some time to catch up :).

I have been working at Sony Ericsson for a little more than two years. My current role is within the CTO department as technology planner within the web area. This role includes for example definition of technology strategies and roadmaps, technology studies, operator and 3rd party vendor dialogues, standardization activities and technical requirements. Before Sony Ericsson I worked for 12 years at AU-System/Teleca/Obigo with different projects related to mobile internet technology. This included among other things standardization within different working groups within OMA and old WAP Forum. And in my younger days I was a consultant at Enea Data for 12 years working as programmer, designer and project leader of real-time systems.

When I am not working I spend time with my ladyfriend and every second week with my lovely girls of 12 and 16. Music is also my passion and I play jazz/dance music (http://www.salongsorkestern.com<http://www.salongsorkestern.com/>/)  and Balkan folk music (http://www.myspace.com/lundnemaproblema) on clarinet and sax.

I believe, as I guess most of you on this list, that the web is THE application platform. However, there are different strategies on the market for web applications. We have installable web widgets and we have web applications run within the browser context supported by HTML5 features like offline web applications. Irrespective of the way chosen here we need to access device APIs in a secure manner. The work within W3C DAP is really important and we have to challenge the current fragmentation within this area.
