I also wonder if this would be better solved by #269. Dimensions could be specified in a supported fallback which could be limited, say, to px and %, but then a standardized extension for alternate units could add more specific options. For example, 1rem could be specified with a 16px fallback based on a standard base font size but the extension could specify “1rem” as the more specific unit.
