**Decision**
Due to implications on alias resolution, the specification should include name character restrictions. The first restricted characters could be `.`, `{`, and `}`, but may include more. We will look for feedback from vendors and toolmakers and discuss these changes further. The specification should also describe alias resolution in more depth to describe why these restrictions are needed.
**Action to be taken**
Next version of specification will reflect these decisions.
We’ll leave this issue open for feedback on which characters to include.
