Hey @NateBaldwinDesign, very cool insights. > Tokens should be authored in a hybrid tool that is neither an existing design tool, nor an existing engineering tool. Fundamentally, systems design is a unique form of design that is a prerequisite to the creation of tokens. We need that tool. I fully agree that it would be awesome to get a specific tool to define tokens. But don't you think this scares off a lot of people who may work on smaller projects or are new to the topic? It certainly makes the workflow more cumbersome, especially when you are still working your way into tokens. I would rather think a tool like this would be the optimal and an option, but the tools we use today should still be able to create tokens, be it a design tool or a text editor. I was probably lost somewhere in the color theory, but I don't see why using existing tools is such a big no-no for the common case (not saying there aren't cases where you need something more specific). Can you please, in simple terms, explain why I shouldn't be allowed to define tokens in Figma, Sketch or VS Code? -- GitHub Notification of comment by lukasoppermann Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/design-tokens/community-group/issues/43#issuecomment-710472567 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
