cwm 0.8, python 2.3+ (SuSE 9) woes

Hi,
I tried running cwm, but it bails:

python cwm-0.8/cwm.py

UnboundLocalError: local variable 'becauseCwm' referenced before assignment

Python 2.3+


Any hints?
