what is best practice for specifying units on a column

I would like to annotate a column with the respective data units, probably in one of two ways
1) as a string e.g. "meters", "meters/second", "m/s", "meters per second", etc, 
2) or alternatively with a vocabulary term (made up prefixes), e.g. cf:reflectance, latnad27:degrees, latnad83:degrees

what is the best CSVW practice for doing this?

or is a new column annotation like "unit" ("units") in order?
